Masking Tape: What's The Use?

Masking Tape feels pretty old school. Like if I’m not painting a wall, why do I need it? But the truth is, because of its flexibility and adhesive power, a masking tape has several uses that are worth knowing. See below my 5 favourites:
Keep Your Paint Cans Neat
Besides using the tape to cover skirting boards or the ceiling, masking tape is also ideal in preventing paint from filling the groove at the top of a paint can. Simply cover the rim of the can with masking tape and get rid of that pesky problem.
Wrapping Up Furniture Fixings
If you’re moving, you often need to disassemble furniture, fittings and fixtures that have all sorts of “little parts.” For example, screws, hooks, handles, brackets. To avoid those little parts from going missing, you can wrap them in masking tape and fix them to their belonging “big part”, to make sure that nothing goes missing when reassembling.
Labelling
This is so handy! Masking tape has a light adhesive, so while it’s sticky and stays fuss, it can be easily removed without leaving a messy residue. Which means you can label just about anything from freezer bags, open bowls and food storage containers to walls, wood and stationery.
Picking Up Glass Shards
You’ve dropped a glass and the shards have spread far and wide! Apart from cleaning up and vacuuming immediately, cut a big strip of masking tape and press it against the floor. This will assist in picking up those tiny pieces of glass that may be left on the surface even after cleaning.
Lint Roller Alternative
Sometimes it’s a cat, sometimes it’s your detergent soap. If your favourite item of clothing is laden in lint, take a small portion of tape, apply it on the affected sections, rub lightly, and peel off.
My verdict? Masking Tape still has a place in the kitchen drawer. It’s uses are bountiful and it is definitely a tape that you need more than you think you do. Go on, get a roll! It’s good to have it handy at any time.
